Rachel closed her arms around Danny, her face pressed gently against his shoulder. "It's okay, I can look after you," she said, just as quietly as Danny. She knew it was a pretty poor thing to say; she could barely look after herself some days. She didn't have any experience with looking after anyone else.

Zoe didn't step away from Liz rubbed her shoulder, but she did tense up. Part of her did want to fall into a soft hug like Danny had done, but she also knew that, without a doubt, if she left that part of her soften it would take a long time to harden again, and she'd be left in the open as vulnerable as Danny. She wasn't allowed to be vulnerable. She was the one who had to save them.
