Spectre could see where Susanna was coming from, he really could. She was Quinn's biological mother. The fact of the matter was though, she'd only just come back into Quinn's life, after expelling him from her own. Certainly, her views had become more open, but without Quinn as a direct influence, who was to say that would remain true? What if she eventually decided that all this was because of his Quinn's homosexual relationship, and Flynn was no longer allowed to see him? Spectre couldn't let that happen.
Maree didn't seem to oppose Flynn looking after Quinn on any grounds other than those that were simply her looking out for Flynn, and to Spectre's mind - and probably everyone else's there, save for Susanna herself - Maree had far greater right to veto than Susanna did.
"Maybe it would be best," he said, grateful for the support of Thomas and Lavinia behind him, "That we didn't put Quinn through the stress of moving. He should stay somewhere he's been comfortable and at home. That's been London for a long time now."
