David considered his answer. "The doilies get smaller," he explained vaguely.

"Yeah, I getcha," Tamm nodded sympathetically. "Heard about all that ruckus with people spreading shit and whatnot. Fuckin' crap, is what it is. How about I buy you a drink to help you mellow out?"

Pierre was half listening to the conversation, and half just observing the club. He'd never been to one of these before, and was surprised he'd even got past the door. Tamm seemed to have that matter well in hand, though, being on speaking terms with the doorperson.
