Leaving - Jude/Deirdre - probably PG

Jude hadn't realised how much stuff she'd aquired since she'd moved into Deirdre's house. She'd been packing for the last two hours and was finally getting the last of the things into boxes. The room looked very bare without all her things around and she could imagine how empty the new house was going to be.

Jillian had had to help her with getting it. She was, after all, still seventeen and needed an adult to sign things for her. And Jillian was the only adult she had and trusted. (She trusted a counciller. Jude of a year ago would have been laughing to hear that.)

It was mostly just clothes out on the bed now that she was left to fold and pack. And then she could be out of there and leave Deirdre to run off the South Africa and forget about her.

Deirdre was chasing her insane kitten up the stairs as he fleed from one of her insane puppies and she noticed Jude's door was slightly ajar. She abandoned the wild cat chase and knocked lightly with her eyebrows raised. "Jude?"

Jude looked up momentarily from her packing and then looked away again, reaching for a dress to fold. "Deirdre," she said neuterally.

"Yep, that's me. What are you doing?! You...you're not..are you moving?" Deirdre bit her lip and shifted nervously as she peered into the room at the boxes that surrounded Jude.

"Why not?" she asked, putting the dress into the box. And then coldly: "You are."

Deirdre shook her head.."W..what?! Wait..no..Jude no I'm not moving, I'm staying here. Dylan asked me to stay...God, I'm so sorry you didn't know!"

Jude narrowed her eyes and looked at Deirdre with surprise in her eyes. Well, that changed things, didn't it. "But you were going to." A part of her clung to that fact. Dierdre was going to leave her.

"Y-yes. Yes, I was going to. But it was only to go to school. It wasn't a permanant thing. This was still going to be my home and I would have come back for school holidays...I was going ot be an international student but Dylan brought me to my senses. Nothing like a little brother who's smarter than I am. Is...is that why you're leaving?"

Well, when it was explained like that it didn't seem as bad, did it. It sounded less like Deirdre wanting to get away from her.

She could have tipped that last box out onto her bed and said 'Yes, that was why. But now that you're not going I'm not going either! I'll stay with you Deirdre.'

But she didn't.

She packed the last item of clothing into the box and sealed it shut slowly, shaking her head. "No," she told her. "That's not the only reason why I'm leaving." She wasn't sure how much of this was now running on pure pride alone.
